Minnie- ***ADOPTED APRIL 2013
When Minnie's owner went to jail she landed in an overcrowded shelter where her days were numbered. Luckily, an Izzy's Place foster mom saw Minnie's picture and heard her story. Having a special love for black labs and knowing black dogs are not often adopted through shelters, she made room for one more (even though there really wasn't much room). Minnie really doesn't take up much space at all anyway. She went on a diet when she arrived in Colorado and she now has her beach body back (she's only 41 lbs.)!
While Minnie enjoys running around, playing fetch, taking long walks and wagging her tail, she does not have a puppy's crazy energy! She loves to ride in the car and enjoys chasing rabbits. Thank goodness they're faster than she is! She knows quite a few basic commands, has great recall and is very obedient. Minnie is fully housetrained and knows how to use the doggie door. This girl is super sweet, loves attention and really enjoys belly rubs. She would love to sleep with you on your bed, but she will get off the bed and lay on her own if told to do so.
She is up to date on all required vaccinations, spayed, and on heartworm preventative meds. She has no arthritis issues at all. Recently, she had a full dental cleaning so she's ready to flash her pearlie whites when she meets you.
Minnie's great with other dogs and great with kids too. She's playful, silly, energetic and oh-so-lovable! She'll make a great walking companion, maybe even some CO hikes? Minnie's always smiling, nothing gets this girl down. Minnie adapts quickly to new situation and bonds to her "human" in no time at all. Whatcha think? Can you give Minnie the life she deserves?
Her suggested donation is $100.

Ben- ***ADOPTED MARCH 2013
Ben has received the best life he could ever imagine. His new family is very active and enjoys taking Ben to the lake, bicycling, and Camp Bow Wow dog daycare regularly. He continues to be a big part of his foster family, and even thinks he is a lap dog. We could not have asked for anything better for Ben.
Ripley- ***ADOPTED MARCH 2013
RIPLEY is still doing great, and although missing her lifelong companion, Roscoe, she has a home full of love from both furry and human to help her heal. Because of the strong bond between Roscoe and Ripley, her new home is carefully monitoring her behavior and health. When two dogs spend so many years together, the loss of one can be difficult on the surviving dog so we're keeping a close eye to make sure Ripley's adjusting OK.
Ripley is a darling 13 year old spayed female whom we believe is a lab/shepherd mix. She is gentle and kind, but still has some spunk despite her age. She loved to play in the yard with her brother, Roscoe, and hang out on her blankets and soft bedding getting love from her people. She is good with other dogs and children as well. Ripley started heartworm prevention, and is up to date on all of her vaccines.

Roscoe and Ripley
Roscoe and Ripley were together for 12 years! They had been completely neglected in a yard with no veterinary care, and were brought to a wonderful local veterinary clinic to be put to sleep together because the family was having a baby!!! The clinic took possession and completely changed the course of their lives! They no longer whimpered in pain from bad teeth and achy joints - receiving medication for the arthritis and had several teeth pulled. Ripley had a fatty lypoma removed from the top of her head and her front leg - both benign, just yucky, and they are both so stinking adorable and grateful for everything!
*****Thanks to a generous supporter their Adoption Fee is sponsored in full*****
Roscoe Update
Roscoe went over the rainbow bridge January 2013 surrounded by the many that loved him.
Roscoe was a sweet 12 year old neutered male and was the sweetest boy ever. He had the sweetest face ever seen, and loved to gently kiss you if you let him. He loved to have his ears scratched and gave kisses and enjoyed a foster home with his sister, Ripley, where they played and got plenty of love.

Skye- ***ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2013
I spent many years living in a garage. I was let out to potty a couple of times a day.....
Look at me now! I have a fabulous furever home where I am part of the family. This living in the house thing ROCKS!
I am the talk of the town. I am so happy in my furever home and could not imagine this is how my life would turn out. I get to go to various dog parks, long walks and many visits with neighbors and their dogs. I could not be happier.

GERTIE- ***ADOPTED DECEMBER 2012
This sweet gal lived her entire 8 years with one family. Then one day they drove her to a shelter and left her there. No explanation, no reason and poor Gertie was so sad. Each time a car drove up to the shelter she'd run to the fence and wag her tail in hopes her family had come back for her. Day after day this happened and as she watched each car drive away with a younger dog Gertie cried.
She was a staff favorite at the shelter and many volunteers stopped by to pet her, take her for walks and play with her but it still wasn't enough.
UPDATE:
Gertie is enjoying her furever home with her 2 brothers, Joe (Malamute/Anatolian Shep) and Chester (Lab/Pit). She loves her daily walks with her Mom and Dad and going for car rides. Of course in the cold weather, she gets the heated seats turned on for her. She's starting to learn how to play with toys and Joe really takes the time to teach her. She still has issues with men wearing jeans, and we are not sure what that stems from. Her Mom and Dad are doing everything they can to help her get through this and she loves them for not giving up on her. She knows she will live out the rest of her life in the most wonderful home and be loved forever.
The quirk to this story is that Nicole Deubach, Colorado Director of Izzy's Place, is kinda my sister. It was when I was at her house for Christmas waiting to be spayed and my new parents (Nicole's parents) came over and in one night instantly fell in love with me. What's not to love? So now I get to see Nicole almost everyday with her 10 year old daughter Haleigh, and her 20 year old daughter Chelsea. I can even see Kevin (my previous foster Dad) anytime . I have the perfect life.
I was so hurt when I was just left by the people that I thought was my family, and now I have a new and better family who just keeps getting bigger and stays in my life.
Nina- ***ADOPTED OCTOBER 2012
Nina has adjusted very well in her furever home where she is very loved along with her housesister, Sadie. She has a large yard to run around in along with couches and beds to sleep on. We are so proud of Marilyn Dahl and her family for giving Nina furever home and a place to let loose the rest of her life.
Lady- ***ADOPTED JULY 2012
NEWS FROM HER FOSTER HOME (7/5/12):
Thanks for checking in on Lady. She really is a sweet dog but she has some weight to lose. She's quite confident and does not like green beans so I'm feeding her twice a day and giving her about 2/3 - 3/4 cup of dry food. She enjoyed having cherry tomatoes yesterday. She has recovered nicely from kennel cough. She has learned to use the doggie door and hasn't bothered my cats since she's been here.
She went to a nearby lake with me and is really good on leash and with the other dogs. Where we go is an off leash area, so there were dogs everywhere. She went into the water to cool off but didn't seem interested in swimming, just cooling off. She loves tennis balls and playing fetch. I'm thinking she must have belonged maybe to an older person who fed her treats and human food all the time, and didn't exercise her enough. She likes to play and be with people. I hope someone scoops her up as she's a great dog!!
Lady was found as a stray in MO, and transferred to a very crowded in shelter in Joplin where her time ran out. The staff at both facilities in MO moved heaven and earth to save this girl (seniors and black dogs are the first to be euthanized) because she is just so sweet! She was actually the "office dog" in both places while they were trying to find her a placement. She was sponsored as a "star" dog and a kind person sponsored her vetting as well there.
Lady is beyond wonderful in spite of her rough recent history. At some point, someone cared enough about her to housetrain her, and she has lovely manners. She was an angel when her coat was being shaved off because of how badly matted it was.
Lady is great with other dogs, and loves everyone. Could you provide Lady the home she is longing get? She should have many years of love to give you…and all she needs is a soft bed, good food and your love!
Lizzie- ***ADOPTED JULY 2012
Lizzie's so full of life, love and laughter! She was found as a stray so we don't know her age, but vets have guessed between 7-10 years. No matter her age she seems to be getting younger each day since coming to rescue.
Everyone that meets Lizzie says one word comes to mind first...."SWEET" . The center photo truly captures her happy spirit! Thank you to Alexa Boyes, photographer and animal communicator. You can check out her website at www.mollydogdesigns.com or call Hank's to schedule an appointment for an Animal Communication session or Energy Work.
Lizzie loves people, other dogs, is good with cats; enjoys hiking, long walks, car rides and LOVES playing fetch!
This sweet gal knows basic commands and puts many other dogs to shame with how quickly she responds to requests of her people. Whistle once and she's by your side before you know it!
Lizzie is only 40 lbs, although she does need to gain a few pounds to get to a healthier weight. She has a good appetite but isn't a food hound either. She was treated for double ear infection, spayed and had the first of two surgeries to remove a few suspicious lumps. Her second surgery is scheduled for Monday, 6/18/2012 so please send happy and healing thoughts her way!
***Lizzie required two major surgeries. She has a few mammary tumors, as a result of not being spayed at a young age, so her first surgery will remove one mammary chain & include her spay. Her other mammary chain was recently removed*** A HUGE THANK YOU TO HANK'S PET FOOD AND EVERY ONE ELSE WHO HAS SO GENEROUSLY DONATED TOWARD LIZZIE'S LIFE-SAVING SURGERY!!
**Lizzie's being fostered by Lisa & Teresa, of Hank's Pet Supply in Loveland. On certain days resident dog, Abby, and Lizzie get to help out at the store. Please give Lizzie a nice belly rub when you see her there!
Teaker- ***ADOPTED JULY 2012
We're taking guesses on Teaker's breed or mix but she certainly has a labby-like body & face but if you look up a Treeing Tennessee Brindle, Greyhound or Catahoula she might get her brindle coloring from there. Well, no matter what her mix, we know for sure that she is PURE sweetness!
This gal is the baby at Izzy's Place as she is only 5 years old. Yes, younger than we normally take in but we'd planned on taking her & her life-long companion, a senior yellow lab mix, but he went to a different rescue & we certainly couldn't sleep at night knowing we'd left Teaker behind at the shelter.
She's the sweetest dog ever! Loves her walks and she's even been running with her foster mom & the other dogs each morning. She's always happily wagging her tail, is the best greeter when you get home from a long day at work or even a quick trip to the market. She's great with other dogs, cats and kids too. Teaker really loves to play and wrestle with other dogs so she will need to be adopted by a family with at least one other medium to large breed dog. Teaker's spayed, up to date on all vetting and ready for her forever home!
Update: This is truly the spirit of Christmas....Christmas 2012
Charlie's sound asleep on Christmas Eve as Santa delivers their gifts....shhhh!
Charlie's a senior Weimaraner/Lab Mix who was found as a stray, taken to a high kill shelter in the Midwest and to make things worse he was heartworm positive, hearing impaired and limped due to an untreated pelvic fracture. Charlie wow'd everyone at the shelter & thankfully came to rescue where he has received heartworm treatment and was adopted by his foster family. Yes, this goofy boy has a way of wrapping all around his paw in seconds flat! After being retested for HW at 6 nmonths after initial treatment, his results came back positive again. He then went through a second round of treatment, and was retested again. NEGATIVE!!!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!!
This year, instead of laying on a cold shelter floor, Charlie is sleeping sound in a warm bed with his beloved Caroline on Chrismas Eve. This is what rescue is all about! Thank you to everyone who helped save Charlie!

Charlie- ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012
Charlie is a sweet soul, wise beyond his years. One look in his eyes and you can see the spark of excitement to be getting all this love now. Charlie is only about 8 years old and wrapped the entire shelter staff and volunteers around his paw right away with his gentle demeanor and innocence. He's getting a ton of love at his foster home and enjoys keeping his foster mom company when she's working in the garden and loves to be near his foster dad's side, gently nudging his hand if he stops petting him. He enjoys having his dog foster sibling, Sir Isaac, there too but is really more interested in people than other dogs.
When people visited the shelter they'd walk right past his kennel, looking for a puppy, but little did they know what they were missing by passing by Charlie's kennel. Adopt a puppy and you have no idea what he will grow up to be, adopt an adult or senior dog and what you see is what you get. Charlie will chew a bone but not your shoes, he'll get excited for walks but not drag you down the block, he'll play with you but not demand to play fetch at midnight....ah, you get the picture. Although, one of Charlie's "talents" is counter-surfing so he'll remind you to keep your counters clear of leftovers or he'll help you clean up.
Charlie received treatment for heartworm and must remain calm for two months following, with leashed walks and a calm, fairly quiet home. We expect a full recovery & statistics show 99% of dogs treated recover and go onto live normal, healthy, active lives. He will be retested in 6 months(which Izzy's Place will cover). Heartworm is easily prevented with a monthly HW preventive tablet but VERY expensive to treat so please keep your own dogs on HW preventive!! Charlie is adoptable now as long as his new home understands the importance of keeping him quiet for a couple of months. He's super sweet and mellow so it's really not any trouble at all.
These beautiful photos of Charlie were taken by his foster mom, Shane. You can check out her amazing work at www.shanesitterphotography.com.
Emily- ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012
This sweet girl was found roaming alone on a desolate road in the midwest and taken to a shelter, where she would have immediately been euthanized if a rescue didn't step up. Since seniors are celebrated here at Izzy's Place we have welcomed her with open paws!
Emily is a toy rat terrier, about 10 years old. She is very sweet, shy at first and finally learning that it's ok to ask to be loved. When she first arrived at her foster home she shook in fear. Emily has limited vision in one eye due to cataracts & recently had the other eye removed. As sweet as this girl is, it was no surprise when we learned that her foster family wanted to adopt her. Emily continued to live a fabulous few months, surrounded by love as she deserved. Em had a way about her, a way of capturing your heart in a moment. She has since passed over the Rainbow Bridge.
A special Thank You to Linda and Lisa of C.A.R.E. who sponsored Emily's extensive vet care and transport to Colorado.

Bubba- ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012
Bubba is pure perfection!
This boy has soulful eyes, a beautiful smile and promises to be your best bud forever!
Bubba's great with other dogs, even the small dogs that tease him at his foster home. He loves to play/wrestle so we hope to find him a forever home with another medium/large dog. He's a cuddler and pretty sure he thinks he's a lap dog.
He's well-mannered, knows basic commands and will be a loving companion to some very lucky family.

Archie- ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012
Archie is a 6 year old poodle who was a stray in Kansas and never reclaimed by his owner. He is just 10lbs, neutered, recently had his teeth cleaned, is current on all his vaccinations, is heart worm negative and a healthy little guy! He gets along with all the other dogs that he plays with in the park! He is sweet as pie and loves everyone and everything. Archie loves to sit in laps and be cuddled. He is house trained.
Archie is waiting for you to come meet him and take him home! He would love a little doggie playmate, and cats do not seem to faze him at all. He would also be content to be your one and only love. No small children please!

Sam- ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012
Sam is a most adorable Cocker Spaniel mix. He came to Izzy's Place when his owner passed away. The staff at the facility where he lived with his owner told us that he is 16. No one who has met him can believe that! Sam is full of energy and life. He misses his owner, but he is also anxious to start a new life of his own with a family to love.
Sam loves long walks - a volunteer walked him for over a mile and could hardly keep up with him - and rides in the car. He is getting along great in his foster home, living with seven other dogs. He passed his vet exam with flying colors. His teeth are good and his heart is strong. He has a cataract in one eye so his vision is a little cloudy, but he gets around just fine. He has some stiffness in his hips but it's not painful, and he's on no medication. The veterinarian who examined him was very pleased with his condition. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.
Sam is well housebroken, sleeps quietly in his own bed at night, and is just a joy to be around. He's very anxious to find his new home and would love to meet you!

Brody - ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012
Handsome Brody is energetic, loyal to his family and absolutely lovable!
Brody's mom was a Standard Poodle and dad was a Terrier/Lab mix & although we don't know specifically he appears to have traits of an Airedale Terrier. He has the confidence, high intelligence and loyalty of a standard poodle, the adorable goatee of a terrier or deer hound & the happy tail wag of a lab . He's 8 years young, neutered, up to date on all shots and given a clean bill of health by our vets. He was very well cared for by his previous owners so came to rescue in tip top shape. Brody also knows basic commands, is crate-trained(although good with free roam of the house), knows how to use a dog door and an all-around GREAT dog! His previous owners said he was scared of thunder but he's done fine at his foster home thru the recent storms.
Brody would make a fabulous walking, jogging or hiking partner but knows to settle while in the house. His previous owners admitted they no longer had enough time to exercise him properly and he was getting bored. So Brody would love to find a fun-loving, active family. He's good with other larger dogs, but is too "interested" in cats and smaller dogs. At this time, we are suggesting that he go to a home without either one. He has not been around small
children that we know of but has been good with kids 8 and older.
Pictures don't do this handsome boy justice. He's eye-catching in person and with his incredible personality you cannot help but fall in love. He knows basic commands and is an all-around great dog.
Scarlet - ***ADOPTED BEFORE SHE CAME TO IZZY'S PLACE
This 9 year old sweetheart is a black lab mix, with many years of loving left to give her forever family! She's housebroken, good with kids, all dogs and cats, and loves everyone!
She was brought to the shelter in the Colorado mountains as a stray, but someone must have loved her at one time. She yearns for a family of her own again! She's up to date on her vaccinations and spayed. She's slightly arthritic (easily managed with inexpensive pain meds) but very spry, and LOVES going for brisk walks.
SCARLET is a precious perfectly behaved senior lab mix who needs a loving home. She is great with everyone, including young annoying puppies and small children. Please open your heart and your home to this angel of a dog. She will fill your life with love!

Miss Molly- ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012

Sweet, spunky, playful, loving....what more could you wish for?
Little Miss Molly arrived in Colorado on April 12th!
She was in a shelter(and within hours of being euthanized) but luckily she had a loving temp foster home where she happily hung out until hitching a ride to CO. Molly had a spa day and is all prettied up to meet you! In the shelter she was shy & scared but in her foster home her true spunky, lovable personality shines thru. She loves daily walks, meeting new people & dogs along the way & afterward a nice afternoon nap is perfect! She's great with the other small dogs at her foster home, good with cats too. Molly loves to cuddle on a lap or next to you on the couch anytime! She likes to play with stuffy toys and occasionally enjoys a small bone(although she doesn't have many teeth left).
When she got to CO she met other dogs, some big and some small, but they all knew she was in charge & they were all very respectful of her(and careful not to step on her:) Her foster mom in CO says Molly is so sweet and lovable! All she needs now is a wonderful, loving family to share in her retirement years. Molly has impaired vision but that doesn't slow her down at all. Her nose is much more important and that works just fine!
UPDATE: Miss Molly was adopted June 11 by Kelly W. Actually she was a foster failure, but couldn't we ALL see that happening with this little cutie?! Have a great life, sweetheart!
Polly - ***ADOPTED JUNE 2012
Polly's perky personality will have you head over heels in love the very moment you meet her! She's an actress for sure, who loves to be in the spotlight making you laugh and smile and be happy alongside her.
Polly's family of 10 years moved & decided not to take her. How they could that is beyond any of us that have had the fortune to meet her. She looks at you longingly as if to say "Please love me".
Polly's grown up with young children and is good with other dogs, in fact, she's always up for a fun game of chase around the yard! Polly is a black lab/corgi mix and She's healthy, happy and hoping her new forever family will adopt her soon.

Bear - ***ADOPTED MAY 2012
So, you ask "who would want to adopt a 14 year old Pomeranian, shaved because of horrible mats, has limited vision, selective hearing, a heart condition, high blood pressure, major dental disease and 4 deformed legs?"....the real question should be "who wouldn't"?
When Bear arrived we warned everyone to hold onto their hearts because he was here to steal it and over the last couple of months he has successfully stolen MANY of our hearts! Wherever he goes people are drawn to him. He has such a love about him, an innocence in spite of a rough past. Bear is gentle but sassy. He taught his foster mom to do the Energizer Bear dance even! He reminds us all to look past imperfections on the outside to truly see what is on the inside. It took him 14 years to get here but Bear has found "home".
While Bear's life has changed for the better since coming to rescue, he has also changed our lives for the better too. Today, May 9, 2012, however, is Bear's BEST day ever! He and his foster mom had a chat, then slept on it and woke up and decided they belong together forever! Kathy said she'd like to adopt Bear but we think Bear adopted her a long time ago.
Bear and Kathy have lot's of rescue work ahead of them so don't think they're out relaxing on a beach somewhere. They plan to continue opening their home and hearts to other lucky rescued dogs. Bear is one of our Izzy's Place Ambassadors and along with that title comes a big responsibility, to help other dogs, and if anyone's up to the task, it's Bear.
Congratulations to Kathy and Bear! We couldn't be happier for you both!
Thank you to all who have donated toward Bear's care.....Ronda and Phong T, Lisa B, Jan M and Dr Altman! Without each of you we could not have saved Bear. Thank you....woof!

Lucky - ***ADOPTED MAY 2012
Hello! My name is Lucky & I have to be honest, I wasn't feeling very lucky for awhile. I heard my owner say she was gonna take me to the shelter to be put down. Geez, I'm a healthy, happy 9 year old Beagle/Heeler mix, so why would she want to do that to me? I've got lots of life left to live, parks to play at, walks to take, and love to give!
Luckily(get it? Lucky? ha! ha!) a wonderful IP volunteer came to my rescue! I got to go to this nice ladies home & met her two dogs. Those girls are little but they barked at me alot at first but I just ignored them and eventually they accepted I was staying for a few days so all was good. Heck, I was in a nice home with love and good food, I was definitely gonna make it work!
Now I'm at my other foster home & guess what....I'm loved here too! I have two other dogs to play with in the big back yard, I get healthy food, and they tell me all the time how much they love me and what a good boy I am. I love long walks, hiking, car rides, dog parks too. I get along with other dogs, cats and even kids. I like cuddling and belly rubs too. I'm housetrained, neutered and up to date on all my shots.

Jack - ***ADOPTED MAY 2012
Jack is a funny boy! He's 11 years young and playful, carefree, even a bit stubborn at times, but he is oh-so-cuddly! He follows his foster family from one room to the other, soaking up all the attention. He's good with other dogs but a little fiesty when it comes to cats. He's good with the teenage kids at his foster home and even sleeps in bed with the daughter, snuggling underneath the blankets all night long. Although he has only one eye, his hearing and certainly his nose work just fine. He loves to fall asleep with his fave stuffy toy in his mouth. Warning! He snores! But's it's kinda cute after you get used to it.
Jack & Stan, two lovable Boston Terrier brothers recently lost everything except each other when their dad passed away and mom went into a nursing home. Thanks to a family member in CO the boys came here and were welcomed into a fabulous foster home, where they quickly learned the doggy door(and thought it was the greatest invention ever!), teased their two Boston Terrier foster sisters, and enjoyed all the love they could ever hope for.
Sadly, Stan passed away only 6 days after coming to rescue. He had inoperable tumors & late stage kidney disease. Jack has transitioned into his foster home, with Maggie & Clover, his BT foster sisters who adore him! Jack should be adopted by a family with at least one other dog and not be left for long periods of time. Bostons are so people-oriented that being alone in a basement for 3 months took a toll on him and he likes to know his people aren't leaving him behind. Even when napping he'll wake up, look around for you and when he knows you're still there he falls gently back to sleep.
Jack also came to rescue in need of extensive vet care. He has a slight heart murmur but has been given the A-OK by the vet to undergo anesthesia. Jack has 3 mast cell tumors that need to be removed & also extensive dental surgery as he has severe dental disease. Dental infection does not only affect the teeth. The infection, if untreated, spreads through the body affecting overall health. It's also very painful for Jack to eat so his foster mom makes him special soft meatballs to enjoy.

Emmy - ***ADOPTED APRIL 2012
This girl is sweet, mellow and adoption ready! Her previous owners brought her to a high-kill Midwest shelter because they were getting a divorce. Luckily, caring rescuers from Oklahoma to Colorado and in between came to Emmy's rescue just in time.
Emmy enjoyed a plane ride to CO, thanks to Pilots and Paws! She peered out the window excitedly as if she knew she was going someplace wonderful.
She settled easily into her foster home, as if she'd lived there forever. Emmy LOVES to curl up on a lap or the back of the couch soaking up the sunshine. She knows all her basic commands, has impeccable manners and is a whole lotta love rolled up into a tiny 9 lb pup with a huge heart.
Emmy's a beautiful 9 year old Italian Greyhound mix and great with other dogs, cats and older kids. She's an all-around sweetheart who will bring sunshine to some very lucky family! Her foster mom absolutely adores her and says she is pure perfection!

Dexter - ***ADOPTED APRIL 2012
Dexter was found in a country dump in the midwest. yes, you read that right...in a dump, a landfull. He spent his life as a breeder dog at a puppy mill and when he wasn't in his prime any more he was dumped & left to fend for himself.
All that has changed for our dear Dexter! He's in a loving foster home where he gets lots of cuddles & love. At first he was shy but he quickly learned being petted was a fabulous thing & will nudge your hand for more. He loves hanging out with his three foster dog siblings, who welcomed him with open paws.
Dexter is a miniature, long-haired doxie with a beautiful red coat, which is getting shinier and healther thanks to good food, medicine to treat his flea & tick bites, and warm baths(which he loves!). He's a super sweet boy who has shown us how appreciative he is of this second chance. Dexter has an approved applicant very interested in adopting him. He will remain at his foster home pending a consultation with a specialist but then he will go to his fabulous forever home!

Maddy - ***ADOPTED MARCH 2012
Madison is a beautiful Black Lab/Golden mix with the softest fur ever - you will never tire of running your hands through it and she will melt with happiness while you love on her!
Maddy came to us from a kill shelter from out of state. She's a young senior at only 9 years of age! Her wonderful disposition had shelter workers and volunteers searching frantically to find her a home or rescue because she was unlikely to be placed before her time was up.
Sadly, black dogs get overlooked at shelters so between being a senior, plus mostly black(with adorable greying on her muzzle) she didn't have much hope there. Her previous owners left her in the yard alone all day and she slept on a cold concrete garage floor at night. They brought her to the shelter when they decided to have another baby and did not want her anymore. Good riddance to them! Maddy deserves to be an incredibly well-loved indoor dog!!
Maddy's foster mom reports that she is house trained(but does like to get out every 4 hours or so), loves to eat her high-quality food 2xday with some warm water on it(makes a yummy gravy!), likes other nice dogs, ignores cats and prefers dog-savvy kids - please no tugging on her face or ears and she likes to have a little space from kids when she eats. She enjoys having someone around but is fine with free roam while you're gone. She has some typical senior-dog aches that are easily managed but she finds wood floors a little slippery.
She's new to Colorado and enjoys easy walks to explore, soak up the sunshine, check out new smells and make new friends. She knows: sit, stay, shake and has beautiful manners. Loud sharp voices upset her and she gets sad. We think someone in her past may have been unkind to her. Maddy likes to sleep on a comfy dog bed next to you or with you if that's OK! She just loves being with her people!
Maddy is spayed, up to date on shots, in overall good health and is being treated to a full dental visit so she'll show you her pearly white smile when she meets you!

Meet Pandle the Poodle!- ***ADOPTED MARCH 2012
(Courtesy post)
Meet Panda the Poodle before grooming(left) and after grooming(right). Sad that she's so plump but look at that beautiful smile in spite of it!
She's a little embarrassed about her ummm, weight problem, so please be kind. Panda's life before rescue became sedentary when her owner aged & got sick.
Thanks to a healthy diet & daily walks at her foster home, the weight is melting off and soon she'll be in tip top shape again!
Her Foster mom says Panda is a sweet, 9 year old gal who is a love-bug! She looks forward to her daily walks & is sure everyone along the way is there to pet her!

Tiny - ***ADOPTED MARCH 2012
4/4/12 update from Finn's loving mom:
I am so happy to have Finn(previously known as Tiny) as part of my little family. He is such a joy: happy, very responsive to training, and loving. It seems we didn't even have to "adjust" to each others' schedules; we have just "clicked". To prove how cute he really is, I have attached a recent picture. His fur is just now starting to really come in - about the same color as a yellow Lab. I can't wait to see how thick and long it may become.
We walk everyday and work on various trainings like sit and stay, walk at a heel, coming when called, and following (rather than leading and pulling). We are both learning very well. We will need to continue to work on" answering the front door manners" and "greeting other dogs calmly". I have every faith these will be successful as well.
He and the cat, Hattie, are doing just fine. They have their occasional territory "discussions", but never need my intervention.
Shereen has sent all his shelter and vet records, so we are all set. Again, I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have Finn in my life!

Chance - ***ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2012
Chance is doing fabulous in his foster-failure (adoptive) home but he came to us in pretty rough shape. He had been found as a stray, was intact, arthritic, had a heart murmur, a tumor that needed to be removed and most of all he seemed so very sad. We knew we had to find a way to help him....so we did! Thanks to many generous donors we raised the $ needed for his extensive vet care.
First he got a thorough check up at the vet, where everyone fell in love with his sweet, calm demeanor and soulful brown eyes. He was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease & a grade 2 heart murmur so before surgery he needed an ECHO done to make sure his heart was strong enough.
So....off he went to CSU Vet Hospital with his foster dad! The ECHO showed he has a leaky valve, common in older dogs & he got the A-OK for surgery. The suspicious masses were removed & GREAT news! They were benign & testosterone driven so now that he is also neutered it is unlikely they will return. He's doing good on a low protein diet, which will likely keep the kidney disease from progressing. At the most, he might need medication for that in the future. With regular exercise he has become stronger and his arthritis seems to be under control.
These days the new, improved Happy Chance gets to hang out with his foster parents and 3 furry senior siblings. He enjoys his daily walks, cuddling with his foster sister & getting lovin' from anyone and everyone! He's a gentle boy, with a big heart & lots of love to share. Oh, he had a little trouble going down the stairs so his dad built a ramp to make it easier for him to go in and out of the house.
Thank you everyone who donated to save this sweet boy!

Sheba - ***ADOPTED JANUARY 2012
Sheba is happy-go-lucky and loving life in Colorado! She came all the way from Arkansas, where she lived her whole 8 years with her beloved dad. Sheba and her dad could be seen each day strolling through the town, greeting people and dogs along the way, finally getting to the park for playtime. Sadly, he passed away. So, she's on the lookout for a fun-loving family that she can share her love with and she has lots of love to give! Sheba LOVES her long walks! When she hears "Sheba, let's get dressed" she runs to the door, sits and waits for her Foster Mom to put her harness on . then she wiggles her little booty with excitement! She's great with other dogs, but preferably no cats. Sheba cannot figure out why the cat's don't want to play with her. If you're looking for a fun-loving, sweet, active, cuddly dog... Sheba's the one for you!
Daisy- ***ADOPTED DECEMBER 2011
Never allowed in a house, Daisy spent icy cold winters and dangerously hot summers outdoors, alone. She wasn't taken for walks, given affection or even good food or clean water. When Daisy's kind rescuers found her she was filthy and covered in fleas. They gently bathed her & as the water washed over her they thought she was bleeding...it was the flea excrement. Soon her sad past began to wash away….
Daisy’s foster mom describes her as “sheer perfection”. In spite of her past she has a sweet, angelic personality and all she asks for is to be loved. Daisy’s good with other dogs but her true love is gentle, caring people. She quickly learned that living in a home with nice people, comfy dog beds, and yummy food is wonderful! She is completely housebroken and crate trained (she loves to have the TV on the soft pop or jazz station), wags her tail all the time, and never stops looking at you with those sweet brown eyes. She loves her daily walks and uses a gentle leader because she is so eager to see the whole world! Daisy loves toys, but her foster brother is not great at sharing so she is eager to get into her forever home where she can play with some! Daisy is learning some commands, and is loving that…she especially loves the treats and the praise! Daisy would love for you to spend time with her at an obedience class so she can be the star pupil! She never had that opportunity previously, but she's very smart and will make her adopters proud in class! Training also helps build a bond between a new dog & the family.
Daisy has a fear of sudden or loud noises and raised voices, so she is looking for an active but calm household that will be
committed to taking her for a nice long daily walk, weekend hikes and lots of other fun playtime and exercise, and will never leave her alone in the yard. She likes for you to chat with her while she does her business and then comes right back in with you all smiles and swishing tail. And someone who will continue to provide excellent veterinary care (annual checkups, joint supplements, monthly heartworm preventive)and premium food (she likes hers with lots of warm water – like a soupy stew) and fresh water for the rest of her life. In return, she will never leave your side and make you the center of her world.
Daisy has just discovered the joy of cuddling on the bed with her foster family, but will also happily sleep on her special
pillow next to the bed. She sleeps all night long….not a peep, and waits for you to ask her to go out in the morning!
