Lucy the Pekingese
Hi! My name is Lucy, or you can call me Princess for short! Tee hee hee! I'm your typical sassy, silly, little Pekingese. If I could wear a princess crown, I'd be perfectly happy....but a blingy collar will be just fine instead.
I actually just learned to wear a collar, and I am proud to sport it! My former owners left me outside most of the time, never put a collar on me, never took me for walks, and never introduced me to other dogs. My foster mom is teaching me to walk on leash, but that's going to take some time and patience. I'm so happy to be finally meeting other dogs and learning how good life can be thanks to my foster family. I've met a couple of dogs and love playing chase with them. I also love playing with my tennis ball in the yard. I'm just a puppy at heart! I love curling up on my foster mom's lap when she's working in her office. I'm house-trained and learning basic commands. I'm really smart and learning fast and so proud of myself!
I'm only 3 years old, so I find it strange that I am in a senior dog rescue; but thankfully they welcomed me so I wouldn't have to go to a high-kill shelter in Kansas. I guess the people at Izzy's Place made an exception since I only have three paws. I'm missing one of my front paws, which the vets say was a deformity at birth and not due to trauma. It doesn't slow me down, though. I LOVE to romp and play in the yard and play like a puppy.
I don't like going to the vet, nor am I a fan of being groomed. I probably don't like these things because I was never socialized during the first three years of my life. But Izzy's Place has a trainer working with me while I'm with my foster family, and Izzy's Place will offer one-to-three months of continued training to the forever family who adopts me.
I would like to be adopted by a person/family with a fenced yard so I can romp and play outside safely. I would do best in an adult-only home and would love to have a comfy lap or two to curl up on in the evenings. I would do OK with another small breed dog but would also be happy as your one and only as long as you can spend time playing with me and loving on me.
I am spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and in excellent health.
