Coco.......Adoption Pending 5/30/2017
Hi! My name is Coco, aka: Cocoa-Bean. But as long as you have a treat in hand, I'll answer to just about anything. Tee hee! I do love my treats (which is why I'm on my way to losing about 5 lbs to get to my healthiest weight)! To teach me better leash manners and such, my foster family is giving me small, training sized treats like freeze-dried chicken; that way, I learn and am rewarded without gaining weight from some of those unhealthy treats.
I spent my whole 10 years with one family, and then they moved and left me behind. They moved to Hawaii and left me at a shelter. Really? What's up with that?!
Lucky for me, rescue peeps stepped up from all over the U.S., and I am now rescued! Woo hoo! I have an awesome foster home that I share with two human adults and two other big dogs. Boy, oh boy! Do we ever have the most fun! There are dog beds galore, healthy food, and so much love that I think this home will burst at the seams with all the love and happiness here. The one and only thing I could ever hope for now is to find a forever family to love me and give me a good home like this. In return, I will give my forever family endless love and affection. Heck, I will even climb into their laps to give them kisses! I would do fine with other dogs in the home, or I would be happy as your one and only, as long as you're able to devote lot's of time to me. I love my exercise and hope you'll join me so we can both stay fit and happy!
I'm a perfect mix between a lovable lab and an energetic hound. So you and I can enjoy daily walks, trips to the dog park, and so much more. Oh wait. Did I mention that I like to lay ON your lap? I'm only 60 lbs; so that's no problem, right? I'm just so full of love that I can't help myself. I kinda like to be the leader of the pack, but if my person and I can share that role, I'm A-OK with that too. If the other dogs run ahead on a walk, be ready to follow me as I run to capture the lead again. Phew! It can be hard work staying in the lead. LOL!
I am perfectly house-trained and know some basic commands like "Sit" and "Come." My foster family is teaching me some new things like "Stay," "Down," and "Go to your Bed. " (Like, who doesn't want to cuddle on a big, comfy dog bed?!)
One of my favorite things is to nap on the couch with my humans, and the other dogs are welcome too. (When it's a big puppy pile, we try to leave a cozy corner for our humans to cuddle in with us. :-) I attach to my humans very quickly; so expect me to be your shadow. Although, when you're at work, I'm fine with free roam of the house and will simply curl up and nap while I wait patiently for you to return. Then I will greet you with a hound-like bawl and a happy wagging tail. What better welcome home could you ever ask for?!
I love my people so much that sometimes I sit in front of them, gazing at them with love before falling asleep. My foster mom says I'm so silly and adorable when I do that.
When I'm not napping or cuddling on your lap, I love running in the yard. I'll chase a ball, but I leave the retrieving part to my foster fur siblings. I love to run and play chase, but fetch isn't one of those silly games I've caught onto. Now, if there's a squirrel in the yard, I will be on point and chase that squirrel up a tree. I'll even climb as far as I can, but they always seem to get beyond my reach. Well, that's the hound part of me. Ya know, I must protect my human family from those pesky squirrels. I would be happiest in a home that has a secure fenced yard so that I can get my exercise and playtime without getting lost. One of the important rules at Izzy's Place is that I am never to be allowed outside alone, especially when you're not home. I must always be an inside dog when you are at work or anywhere else. This is an important rule for all foster dogs, but especially for us hound mixes who love to dig and will find anyway to explore outside.
